About Me

My name is Sam, and I'm a journalist based in Washington, D.C.

Originally from Anaheim, California, I came east to attend college at the University of Maryland, College Park. I hold a B.A. in broadcast journalism from the Philip Merrill College of Journalism.

While in school, I got my start in sports radio. From there, I transitioned to into television, and I've been spending my past years covering foreign policy and defense issues, traveling with the White House press corps and covering presidential campaigns.

Through my work, I've had the opportunity to spend my days at Nationals Park, travel to places like the West Bank and Havana, do a story at an Air Force base in rural North Dakota, and even spend time in an underground coal mine in West Virginia!

In my personal life, my passions include learning about food (sources, access, waste), promoting sustainable practices, health and wellness, and gender equality. In my free time, you'll find me expressing my creativity in the kitchen, drinking wine, doing yoga, and trying to find my way to the next beach town.
